Kelly and Jan, a Chinese-American couple, brought their family and friends to Spain to get married at Castell de Tamarit, a medieval castle on a rock above the Mediterranean, just north of Tarragona. Their celebration was planned by The Gathering and stretched over several days: a relaxed welcome party on the water in Barcelona, a traditional tea ceremony with their families, and a wedding day that moved from sunlit stone courtyards to a candlelit dinner and a dance floor that never emptied.
Everything about their day felt considered without ever feeling stiff. Hermès, Jimmy Choo, beautiful flowers and a team of great suppliers — and, above all, two people who were completely present with each other and with everyone who came to celebrate them.

Welcome party: sailing in Barcelona
The weekend started with friends and family dressed in white, sailing out of Barcelona's harbour with the city skyline behind them. It was the perfect way for guests travelling from abroad to land, meet each other and slow down before the big day.
Getting ready at Castell de Tamarit
Castell de Tamarit sits right above the beach, with the sea on almost every side. The morning was all about the details — the dress laid out in the light, the Jimmy Choos, a bridesmaids' toast in the gardens — and quieter moments between Kelly and Jan as they each got ready.
A first look in the courtyard
Kelly and Jan chose to see each other before the ceremony, in one of the castle's old stone corners — a quiet, private moment before the rest of the day began.
The ceremony
The ceremony took place in the castle courtyard, surrounded by ivy-covered walls and the people they love most. Heartfelt vows, a few tears, and a joyful walk back down the aisle as husband and wife.
Portraits by the sea
As the sun went down, we slipped away for a few portraits between the castle walls and the rocks above the Mediterranean — golden light, sea breeze and no rush at all.
Dinner and party
Dinner was served under strings of lights in the castle gardens, followed by a grand entrance, the cake, and a party that turned into one of the most fun dance floors of the year.
Kelly and Jan, thank you for trusting me with your story. Planning a destination wedding in Spain? I'd love to hear about it — tell me about your plans.
